It was fucking awesome. Taxied right by me, did pre-flight inspections and then ran across towards AF1 and took off.

Back in the day they used to. Scrambling doesn't mean what it used to. Of course, we don't live in S Korea where enemy planes are 4 minutes away

Generally, if you can see it, you can photograph it. I routinely shoot pictures at Dyess AFB where the B-1s live that are blowing the hell out of ISIS right now. Cops drive by me and always give a friendly wave. You're not exactly shooting clandestine ops.

I was told by my escort that it's not allowed, but I can if I like. I was also told that I can't take shots towards AF1 or its hangar. I wasn't going to push my luck the first time out.
Also, FYI the "if you can see it" rule does not apply at on campus at Ft Meade. That shit will get you in cuffs.

We're you on the base? If so, that is different. The "if you can see it" rule generally applies only if you are in a public space. And if somebody told you specifically that you cannot, then no, you shouldn't.

I should add that when I'm shooting at Dyess I'm sitting in a public park just outside of the base fence.
